Alex Faoro is a teacher, programmer and moving image maker. His films and videos utilize 8mm, and involve concepts of home, memory and decay. His work has been exhibited at festivals, galleries and small cinemas including Anthology Film Archives, Spectacle Theater, Synesthesia, CineAutopsia: Bogota Experimental Film Festival, Istanbul International Experimental Film Festival, FEDAXV, London Experimental Film Festival, Pesaro Film Festival, Unexposed Microcinema and Family Film Project. In addition to screening his own work, Alex directs and programs a small theater space - Al’s Cinematheque - where he shows a variety of domestic and foreign avant-garde films.

Alex teaches digital filmmaking classes through Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, Magic Box Productions and LEAP NYC; three non-profit organizations that work with the Department of Education to promote arts enrichment in public schools. Additionally, he instructs super 8mm workshops with Mono No Aware, a Brooklyn based cinema-arts non-profit that has supported community filmmaking for over a decade.
